The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Branhill is a fiction novel for teenagers, typically between the ages of 12 and 15. Considering the reader's age, my design had to be visually compelling for teenagers. I tried various forms and materials to create collages that had a handmade quality within them to help with the depiction of the subject in the book. The book is about a girl who has been saved by a witch. The dark blue choice of can and the clouds were to help with the mysterious theme of the book.

The front cover typeface was inspired by the uneven and edgy texture of the moon. The dark colour of the typeface and rough edges around it were to help with the wizard theme in the book. The half-moon at the back balanced out the heavy, dark texture on the front cover. For the background, I went with a crumpled piece of paper to bring out the interpersonal and secret type of conversation the girl had with the moon, who saved her.
