This project involves designing an interactive website to showcase an essay inspired by spirals in nature, drawing, and illustration. The goal is to create a visually engaging experience that combines artistic expression with scientific themes.
Since the writer Pettigrew used to draw illustrations, I opted for grids and layouts that follow the spiral meaning of the essay and the drawing and illustration aspects of it. I looked at curvy lines that resembled a spiral in nature, like cell growth. This essay was a head of it's time so I also kept the futuristic aspect of it. interactivity was inspired by this line from the essay: emulated the movement that he had discovered to be universal in flying creatures: rhythmic figure-of-eight curves."
Visual Inspiration: Curvy lines and symmetrical shapes inspired by nature and art serve as the foundation for font and layout choices.
Layout Considerations: The grid-based layout follows the spiral motif present in the essay and illustrations, providing a futuristic touch.
Interactivity: The rhythmic curves found in nature served as inspiration for interactive elements that emulate movement. Images rotate as users scroll, enhancing engagement.
User Experience: A clear two-column layout ensures readability, guiding users through the content effectively.
